On October 6th, 2024, the elections for the second-ever term of Liberland congress concluded. It was the second election of congress representatives, but actually the first one considered important, because the previous term was considered testing.

The day before, the president, brought in four “last minute” candidates of his choice out of nowhere, and voted for them with his total of 3.469.500 merits. A tremendous amount by that time that out-voted all citizens of Liberland, and therefore the president manipulated the election.

These four candidates were people mostly uninvolved with Liberland as the organization by that time, unlike candidates who the citizens voted for, but the president desired their presence in the congress because of their influence in different areas. Only 3 the candidates of citizens’ choice made it into the 7-seat congress, which sparked an unrest among the citizens.

This event was an extreme example of the president’s dictatorial practices that he’s been imposing on Liberlanders for years. Liberland citizens decided to declare October 6 as the “Stolen Election Day” in order to remember to be cautious about any kind of concentrated power, since there is always danger of the power being misused.
